been an interesting week since I last posted. mostly good, actually very good. Students in good humor and for the most part are playing the learning game. Having the open computers during class continues to be problematic and something I will need to address better the next time I teach the class. For now, having more tasks and hands-on work during class will have to do. After vacation I have some new twists on this to try out.

Frustrated with myself and with the class. It seems inert. I am dissatisfied with how I am teaching it and what the students are really putting into it. I suspect that they are humoring me, going along because that's the roles we play. It's not unpleasant for them nor for me, except, of course, I want more. So part of my dissatisfaction is my own hubris. I want students to "want to come to class" not just because they have to. I want them to walk away from each class session with a sense that they learned something new, something interesting and relevant to their lives. Each class session should have value. However, it seems as if our class sessions are okay but most of us would be able to find several other things to do just as well. It's not compelling in ways that I would like it to be.
Part of this is spring fever. I feel it. I feel it from them. The weather gets nicer and we want to be more active and outside. Part of it is senioritis. Students are eager to be done, are thinking ahead and not focused in the here and now except to scope out how to get through it.
Even I am doing this. I keep developing plans for this semester's class but think of how these ideas and activities might work with the summer session when this course runs again.

have started to dig into some basic issues. however, it all seems rather drab, with the Internet peak over, it all appears rather mundane, even from a year ago. It feels as much of the revelations that were going to happen have happened. Not sure.
spend a lot of time putting together presentations and even uploading them to the site but it is unclear if these efforts make any impact at all. need to think some more about this.
